Customers Cation & Company has assisted clients with successful implementations of JD Edwards Maintenance and related applications. Here is a sampling of our case studies:
PULP & PAPER MANUFACTURER
A manufacturer of packaging, technical and industrial papers.
Issue:
As a result of being divested by a global leader in the Pulp and Paper industry, our client needed to be operational on new systems in less than four months.
Solution:
The client selected JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.11, to replace SAP and legacy applications. We assisted with the implementation of JDE Maintenance Management modules in the first phase (preventive and predictive maintenance, workflow and control, stores/procurement integration, KPIs) of a multi-phase project.
Results:
The project was completed on budget and in remarkable time. Key success factors included our expertise in JD. Edwards maintenance applications and our ability to shorten the project life cycle by providing pre-designed EnterpriseOne 8.11 maintenance configuration templates as a quick-start step for the client team.
FORESTRY PRODUCTS MANUFACTURER
A manufacturer of Oriented Strand Board.
The business had struggled in several prior attempts to implement JDE World Plant and Equipment Maintenance Management primarily due to incomplete training and a lack of standardized maintenance practices.
Solution:
Management decided to migrate to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.10 Capital Asset Management, Purchasing, and Stores modules. It was expected that training on 8.10 would be much easier with this user-friendly version if the configuration included standardized maintenance and stores business processes.
Results:
The client implementation team identified and documented best practices which we configured in JDE to streamline operations. The client project team ensured project success by taking direct responsibility for training end-users in the correct use of EnterpriseOne functions. Despite increases in project scope requested by the client, the new system went live on-time and within the revised budget.
CHEMICAL MANUFACTURER
A chemical manufacturer supplying the pulp and paper industry.
Issue:
Our client needed a rapid pilot implementation at one plant that could be used as a template for roll-out to seven additional plants. Their goal was to keep implementation costs low by delivering a standard configuration they could deliver with minimal consulting involvement for roll-out to other plants.
Solution:
The client implemented JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.10 Capital Asset Management® applications. We configured the pilot plant and developed the project plan for the roll-out. Our assistance included creating a JD Edwards design Blueprint based on Maintenance Best Practices, configuring the system, developing test scripts, conducting testing, training and assisting with data conversion. Keeping the project plan simple and focusing on extensive training for the client project team enabled them to successfully implement the remaining plants on their own.
CONSUMER PACKAGED GOODS MANUFACTURER
A regional producer and distributor of dairy products.
Issue:
Our client was a competent user of JD Edwards World A7.3 financial, distribution and manufacturing applications. Their objective was to implement World A7.3 Plant and Equipment Maintenance Management to improve maintenance operations while minimizing implementation and ongoing maintenance costs. They planned to perform a small-scale pilot project for a sub-set of their equipment to keep project costs low and their implementation team small.
Solution:
We were engaged only every other week throughout the project to help the client execute on their goals. The key to success was getting a full time commitment from the client team to complete the implementation so they could develop sufficient knowledge to roll out the maintenance applications to other plants on their own.
Results:
Our configuration and training guidance was all that the client team needed to complete the project on-time and under budget. The client team rolled out the maintenance setup to other branch locations to realize the anticipated efficiencies in maintenance operations with no additional consulting costs.
INDUSTRIAL GOODS MANUFACTURER
A world leader in the manufacture of cable and connectors for communication networks.
Issue:
Our client was growing rapidly through internal growth and acquisitions. They needed software that could deliver advanced functionality and facilitate the setup of new businesses on a common system infrastructure, as new plants were acquired.
Solution:
Management decided to upgrade from JD Edwards World to JD Edwards Xe to provide the flexibility and functionality they needed to integrate new acquisitions into their business. We were contracted to provide consulting assistance with the Enterprise Asset Management® applications. On reviewing the migration plan from World to Xe we identified a different approach that would integrate much more easily with future JD Edwards maintenance software releases.
Results:
With our help the project was completed on time and on budget. The maintenance configuration can be readily extended to newly acquired plants with minimal effort. More importantly, the software was configured for easy integration with new JD Edwards releases. Should our client decide to move to the latest Maintenance versions the process will be straightforward, resulting in lower upgrade costs.
